1.  How to sign up for the library? 

To sign up for to the library, you need to:

  • visit one of the branches of the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław,
  • familiarize yourself with the Regulations,
  • present an identification document (ID card, electronic ID, driver’s license, or passport) to the librarian,
  • fill out the commitment card confirming your knowledge of and acceptance of the Regulations.

You don’t need to have a residence in Wrocław to sign up for the library.

To obtain a library card, the following are required:

  • For adults: identification document of the person applying,
  • For minors: presence of a parent or legal guardian, their identification document, and the Personal Identification Number (PESEL) of the minor,

For citizens of other countries who do not have a PESEL number: passport or other identification document.

2. How many items can be borrowed at once?

From one branch, the following can be borrowed at once:

  • Books, audiobooks, language learning materials, 1 e-book reader – a total of 10 copies for a combined period of 60 days: 30 days for borrowing + 30 days for extension (if there is no demand from other readers and the due date has not passed).
  • Movies, music CDs, educational multimedia programs, computer games, 2 board games – a total of 5 copies for a combined period of 14 days: 7 days for borrowing + 7 days for extension (if there is no demand from other readers and the due date has not passed).

A reader’s account can have a maximum of 20 different borrowed items from various branches of the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław

4. How to order a book or other library items?

You can only order items that are currently checked out or reserved by other readers (“Unavailable” status in the catalog).

You can place orders directly at the library or by phone, using your library card/UrbanCard number or Nasz Wrocław application. If you use services from multiple branches, you can order up to 20 different items.

You can join the queue for a specific title/edition at only one branch.

Ordered books and media on the reservation shelf will be held for 7 days.

5. Can you extend the due date for borrowed items?

Extensions can only be made before the original due date, set on the day of borrowing. You can do this by:

  • Self-service, logging into your library account.
  • Directly at the library.
  • By phone.

NOTE: Items you want to extend cannot be reserved by other readers (in that case, even a few days’ extension is not possible).

Limits for extensions:

  • Books: All extensions can be up to 30 days from the original due date.

Movies, music CDs, multimedia, computer games, and board games: All extensions can be up to 7 days from the original due date.

6. What are the consequences of not returning items on time?

For overdue books and other media, the library charges the following fees:

  • Books (including audiobooks): 0.20 zł per book for each day beyond the due date.
  • Movies, music CDs, educational multimedia programs, computer games, and board games: 2.00 zł per item for each day beyond the due date.

If a reader fails to return borrowed items on time, the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław blocks their library account and takes debt collection actions. The reader’s account remains blocked until the obligations are settled.

Financial obligations with the the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław should be settled in the following manner:

  • Return the overdue items directly to the branch from which they were borrowed (this will prevent further accumulation of overdue fees).
  • Make the payment directly at the branch or through bank transfer.
  • In the case of debt collection proceedings, make the payment to the appropriate account.
  • In the case of outstanding debt exceeding 200.00 zł and entry in Krajowy Rejestr Długów, the reader should return the overdue items and settle the imposed penalty directly at the branch or through bank transfer.

NOTE:  The overdue penalty keeps increasing as long as the borrowed items are not returned! In special circumstances, readers can submit a written request to the Director of the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław, Sztabowa 98 St, to request a reduction or installment payment plan for their debt.

8. What to do in case of lost/damaged items?

If you have lost a book, movie, board game, or any other item from the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library collection, please follow these steps:

  • Report the loss as soon as possible to the branch where the items were borrowed.
  • Consult with the branch manager to determine if the items can be repurchased or if you need to pay for them or provide an alternative item of equal value to the library.

9. What to do in case of a lost/stolen reader’s card?

In case of a lost or stolen reader’s card, it should be reported immediately to a librarian at any branch to block the account. If the card cannot be found, a new card will be issued (with a mandatory duplicate fee of 10.00 zł).

10. Can borrowed items be returned at any branch of the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library?

Books and other media should be returned only to the branch from which they were borrowed.

11. Can a specific item be requested from any MBP branch and will it be delivered to the branch where the reader is registered?

MPL in Wrocław does not facilitate borrowing between branches. To borrow a specific item, one must visit the branch where the item is located. NOTE: Requests can only be made for items that are currently borrowed and/or reserved by other readers (they will have the status “Unavailable” in the catalog). To pick up a requested item, one must go to the branch where it is located.

Change of passwords due to the transition to the new library system.

Due to the change of the library system, user passwords have not been transferred. In the new library system – Alma – the passwords have to be reset. If you had filled in your e-mail address in your library account, you would be able to do it yourself via Primo by clicking Login, then Reset password and entering the library card number/UrbanCard number/Nasz Wrocław application number. A reset link will be sent to the provided e-mail address. The link is valid for 24 hours.

If the e-mail address is assigned to more than one library account, you can reset your password only by providing the card number (library card number/UrbanCard number/Nasz Wrocław application number) – not via the e-mail address. If you cannot access your library account because of not providing an e-mail address, please contact the selected library branch in order to set a new password.

12. How to log in to your library account?

Go to the library’s website.

  • In the top right corner of the page, you will find the “LOG IN” button that will direct you to the library account login window.
  • In the “login” field, enter your library card number (found below the barcode on your card), UrbanCard number (on the back of the card, without spaces), or the number from Nasz Wrocław application.
  • In the “password” field, enter the first eight digits of your PESEL number. (If you don’t have a PESEL number, the password is your full date of birth in the format YYYYMMDD.)
  • Select “LOGOWANIE” or press ENTER.

13. How to change the password for your library account?

Log in to your account

  • select “PERSONAL INFORMATION”
  • choose “CHANGE PASSWORD”

Follow the instructions provided to change your password.

14. How to receive notifications regarding due dates/reservation status?

Log in to your account

  • select “PERSONAL INFORMATION”
  • choose “EDIT”
  • enter your email address at the bottom of the page
  • select “SAVE CHANGES”

15. How to extend the loan period of borrowed items?

Log in to your account

  • select “LOANS.”
  • you can choose the option “RENEW ALL.” Please check if the due dates have been updated for all titles.
  • you can extend the due date of selected items by clicking “RENEW” next to the specific title. Check if the new due date appears next to the title. Please note the following limitations for renewals based on the type of library materials:
  • Books, audiobooks, and language learning materials: You can extend them for 30 days (30 days from the original due date and a maximum of 30 additional days, totaling a maximum of 60 days).
  • Films, music CDs, educational multimedia, computer games, and board games: You can extend them for 7 days (7 days from the original due date and a maximum of 7 additional days, totaling a maximum of 14 days).

CAUTION:

  • Items you want to renew must not be overdue, and your account must not have any outstanding financial obligations.
  • Self-renewal cannot be done on the designated return day.

Items that have been reserved by other readers cannot be renewed. Such items will have a status message: “Reserved for another reader” and a lock symbol, along with the message “Cannot be renewed.”

16. How to place an order?

Log in to your account

To place an order:

  • find the item you are interested in the catalog
  • select the branch where you want to place the order.
  • choose the Pickup Location (the place from where you are ordering and where you will pick up the item).
  • click on “Submit Order”.

If the order is successfully registered, you will see a message saying, “Your order has been placed successfully”.

You can track the status of your order by:

  • selecting the “MY ORDERS” tab in the side panel.
  • selecting the “ORDERS” tab in the top panel.

NOTE:

You can only place orders for items that are currently checked out or reserved by other readers.

17. Why can’t an order be placed?

If you see the message “Order placement failed: User has an active loan for the selected item” in Primo, it means that you cannot place an order for the item because the requesting reader already has it checked out.

If you see the message “Order placement failed: User has an active reservation for the selected item” in Primo, it means that you cannot place an order for the item because it is already reserved by the reader. You can only be in the queue for one copy of a title at a time, in one branch.

18. How to check your loan history?

Log in to your account

To check your loan history:

  • select “WYPOŻYCZENIA” (Loans).
  • expand the section for “AKTYWNE WYPOŻYCZENIA” (Active Loans).
  • select “POPRZEDNIE WYPOŻYCZENIA” (Previous Loans) to view your loan history.

19. What to do in case of an account blockage?

If your account is blocked, it can be due to various reasons. A blocked account prevents you from borrowing, renewing loan periods, and placing orders. In case your account is blocked, please contact any branch of MPL in Wrocław.

20. How to check the amount of fines imposed for overdue returns?

Log in to your account

To check the amount of fines imposed for overdue returns, follow these steps:

Select “TRANSAKCJE FINANSOWE” (Financial Transactions).

For each item that has been returned after the due date, there is a charged amount for the overdue period. The accrued fees can be settled directly at the library or by bank transfer, paying the fees into the appropriate account. If the items still appear on the reader’s account as not returned, they should be returned to the library branch from which they were borrowed, and only then should any outstanding financial obligations be settled.

21. What should you do when you have reached the maximum number of renewals or exceeded the due date, but you still need the library materials?

In such a situation, you should return the items to the library branch from which they were borrowed and settle any outstanding financial obligations. If there are no further reservations for the items, you can borrow them again.
