Our mission

Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław utilizes most up-to-date technology as well as knowledge and experience of our employees to provide free and full access to our collection and services. We are an institution that supports cooperative learning and helps to prepare Wrocław’s residents to actively participate in the town’s cultural life.

Our vision

Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław is a robust and thriving cultural institution that actively supports participation of Wrocław’s residents in the city’s cultural life. We take advantage of new technologies to promote authors, cultural texts and new ideas as well as continually strive to give children and adults greater exposure to books. We help institutions, individuals and whole communities to discover areas in which they can excel.

About us

Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław is a cultural institution established by the Wrocław City Council in the year 2000. It consists of 39 branches, Multicentre and FAMA Library and Cultural Centre. The library network extends over the whole city of Wrocław and is connected by the Aleph integrated library system that allows to explore the collection from all of our branches in one catalogue.

Library is a place that provides free access to literature, e-books and multimedia collection. MPL in Wrocław is an open, everchanging institution that offers an extensive range of activities: literary, travel and circus festivals (Authors’ Reading Month, Parallel Zero and Cyrkopole), family events such as Family Club, puppet theatre, English classes for children and lectures for parents, as well as language exchange meetings, mobile city games, overnight events and socially engaged projects like the Human Library. Our library gives a platform for community leaders and non-profit organizations aiding them in conducting various workshops, courses, and trainings on new technologies.

Community

Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław has 180 employees, among them 130 librarians who specialize in book science, bibliotherapy, art education, graphic design, cultural administration and philology, to name a few.

Our community is comprised of readers that own a library card and all of those who actively participate in the events organized by the library. The youngest members of our community are children who received their first library as part of the Wrocław Starter Kit.

We closely cooperate with many partners and sponsors that help us with the OK Programme, innovative educational workshops and projects on culture and new technologies that are being conducted in the Multicentre, Centre for Innovation “Przejście” and FAMA Library and Cultural Centre.
